VW launches new Tiguan

Volkswagen opened the order book for its new Tiguan compact SUV on 1 July with UK deliveries set to start in September.

On the road prices for the model, which is available in either two or four- wheel drive mode, range from £21,085 to £28,020.

Like its predecessor, the new Tiguan also comes with the option of two front ends.

One is designed for on-road driving with an 18 degree angle of approach while the Escape version has a 28 degree angle of approach as well as additional technology for off-road driving.

Both models carry the horizontal lines on the front grille that are a feature of the brand's new design language.

Four trim levels are available - S, SE, Sport and Escape and all models are equipped with 16-inch alloys, climatic air-con, DAB radio and alarm as standard.

Three petrol and three diesel engines are offered, including four new units: a twin-charged 1.4-litre TSI with 160hp, a 2.0-litre 180hp TSI, a 2.0-litre 210hp TSI and a 2.0-litre TDI 110hp with two-wheel drive and CO2 output of 139g/km.

This engine, together with the 140hp TDI and the 1.4TSI 160hp two-wheel drive are designated as Bluemotion Technology models.
