VW launches new Transporter

Date: 31 May 2011

VW has opened the order book for its new Transporter Sportline.

The flagship model is available in both panel van and Kombi guise with a choice of short- and long-wheelbase derivatives.

Prices excluding VAT start from £28,220 on the road for the panel van and £30,100 for the Kombi.

The Sportline is powered by a 2.0-litre BiTDI 180hp diesel engine and offered with six-speed manual transmission as standard.

The seven-speed DSG system is available as an option across the line-up for an extra £1400.

The six-speed panel van in both short and long wheelbase can sprint from 0-62mph in 9.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 119mph. DSG versions post a 0-62mph time of 10 seconds, according to Volkswagen.

Sports styling on the model includes a gloss black grille with chrome detailing and revised headlights. A redesigned colour-coded bumper incorporates front fog lights positioned either side of the lower grille element.

The Sportline also features stainless steel sidebars and 18-inch alloys finished in silver or black.

Smoked rear light units and a rear roof spoiler also serve to set the Sportline apart from the rest of the Transporter range.

The Sportline is offered in metallic silver, black pearlescent or Candy white with a black roof.

Inside all models feature two-tone leather upholstery.

Other additional kit on the Sportline includes semi-auto aircon, multimedia system with seven-inch colour touch-screen and full European satnav.

Built-in Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking sensors and electric windows are also included.
