VW van boss heads to Ireland

Date: 17 June 2011

Simon Elliott, who heads up Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the UK, is to leave his position to become managing director of the VW Group in Ireland in August. Elliott will succeed Paul Willis who is to take up a senior role with VW in China.

Robin Woolcock, managing director of VW Group in the UK, said: "It is obviously disappointing to lose Simon from commercial vehicles where he has made a significant difference to the success of the brand over the last three years."

Elliott said he was proud to have increased market share and grown CV volumes in the UK while also raising brand awareness and forging a strong relationship with the brand's Van Centre network.

Woolcock will take responsibility for VW's CV operations in the UK until a new director is appointed.
