Audi creates digital films of repair work for clients

Date: 28 August 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Audi has rolled out a video system across its service centres to create digital film reports for vehicles that are in for maintenance and repair work.

Known as Audi Cam, the thinking behind the service is to improve clarity for customers by creating narrated films on hand-held cameras, highlighting specific problems.

The videos are then uploaded to a web page, which is emailed directly to the owner who can access it via a pin code that is issued by the service centre.

The page also includes pricing for each job, profiles of the staff working on the car and the ability to remotely authorise further work online.

Paul Sansom, Audi's head of aftersales and service said: "By effectively beaming the workshop to our customers' homes or smartphones, [the system] greatly simplifies the service and repair process, and at the same time breaks down more of the barriers between the service bay and the customer that have traditionally fostered scepticism and suspicion."
