Audi reveals the SQ5 TDI - its first ever diesel S car

Date: 20 June 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Audi has unveiled its first ever diesel-engined car to wear the firm's high-performance S badge, which has traditionally been reserved for high-end petrol variants.

The SQ5 TDI - based on the Q5 SUV - is fitted with the firm's 313 hp 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine, which makes it capable of 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds a limited top speed of 155mph and 39.2mpg.

In addition to the more powerful engine, the SQ5 also sits 30mm lower than the standard car, has 20-inch alloy wheels with the options of 21-inch items and S badging on the brake callipers. Crystal effect paint schemes and various bespoke interior trims make up the cosmetic changes.

First deliveries are due in spring and the starting P11D price will be around £45,000.
