Budget 2012: Capital allowance changes for business cars

Date: 21 March 2012

From April 2013, the capital allowance rate will only be available to cars emitting 130g/km or less, as opposed to the current system, which applies to cars emitting 160g/km.

The same applies to the lease rental restriction, which also reduces from 160g/km to 130g/km.

The 100% first-year allowance is to be extended for another two years until 31 March 2015.

However, from April 2013, only cars emitting 95g/km or less will be eligible for the full 100% write-down allowance, rather than 110g/km, as is currently the case.
