Carcom: New online auction firm to launch

Date: 29 November 2012   |   Author: Tristan Young

Fleets and leasing firms will be the target of a new online vehicle disposal company called Carcom that hopes to launch in January 2013.

It claims it will offer fleets and leasing firms, as well as car dealers and consumers, a more cost-effective and simpler way of disposing of vehicles at the end of their time on fleet.

The company is joint-owned by Bluecycle, the online vehicle salvage auction system from insurer Aviva, and which has developed the new firm's online auction system, and Jon Mitchell, the managing director of Eastbourne Car Auctions.

Carcom claims its system will provide a more direct, and lower cost route to used car retailers and generate higher disposal values.

Mitchell, meanwhile, believes there will be around 1000 used car buyers on the system by the end of 2013.
