Contract hire rate rivalry soars

Date: 17 July 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Contract hire rates are varying more dramatically as a result of stronger competition within the leasing sector and tough trading conditions according to one fleet management firm.

Interactive Fleet Management also claimed that there is, what it described as "an increasing appetite" for contract hire firms to offer more competitive monthly rental deals and that an increasing number of leasing companies are reviewing their rates and offering significantly better deals in order to win contracts from big fleets.

Commercial director Stuart Menzies said: "With the Eurozone crisis in the forefront of everyone's minds, and the UK falling back into recession, many companies are digging deep to win every order. we can see movements in price, sometimes on a weekly or even daily basis."
