Energy Saving Trust trains up London cabbies

Date: 09 August 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

The Energy Saving Trust's economical driving campaign has been extended to London's black cab and private hire community, with 456 cabbies undergoing the organisation's Smarter Driving training programme aimed at cutting fuel costs and boosting efficiency.

The EST said the taxi drivers performed better than most, achieving a 24% fuel saving next to the average driver's 15%. Any business can apply to take the course, which is subsidised by the Department for Transport and costs £25 per driver. See www.est.org.uk/smarterdriving for more details.
