EST launches eco training project

The Energy Saving Trust and TomTom have paired up as part of an eco driver-training project.
The EST will be running programmes with four public sector organisations in Scotland in an effort to cut fuel consumption and emissions levels.
The tie-up between the two organisations sees TomTom supplying technology including tracking boxes and fuel management devices to 100 vehicles, while the firm's Optidrive telematics system will also form part of the training by building a picture of each driver's habits.
Ian Murdoch, transport manager for the Energy Saving Trust in Scotland, said: "It should be a no-brainer for any car and van operator as training only costs a few pounds and can literally save hundreds each year.
"Fuel-efficient driver training can be organised by calling any Energy Saving Scotland advice centre."
The EST is also offering interest-free loans of up to £50,000 to businesses in Scotland that invest in technology to clean up their transportation operations.
Craig and Buchanan, a glazing and steel fabrication specialist based in Glasgow, has already taken one of the EST's loans and installed TomTom's fleet management systems across its vehicles.
