The start point for the best source of fleet information

First pictures: new Vauxhall Adam

Vauxhall has revealed the first official pictures of its upmarket city car, the Adam, due to be launched in January 2013.

Set to go head-to-head with prestige models such as Audi's A1 and the Mini, the three-door four-seater will initially be available with three Ecoflex petrol engines: a 70hp 1.2 plus 87hp and 100hp 1.4-litre units.

Each will have a five-speed manual gearbox and optional stop/start.

Emissions and economy have yet to be announced, but later in its lifetime the Adam will be the first car to get Vauxhall's all-new small petrol engine, which will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and is likely to be similar in its characteristics to low-capacity high-power engines such as Ford's 1.0-litre Ecoboost unit.
