Vauxhall has revealed a new look for its big-selling Astra hatchback and Sports Tourer estate models, with first deliveries due in September.

There are no engineering changes to the UK-built pair, but Vauxhall describes the new front end design as more bold and aggressive. The rear has also been subtly refreshed.

Pricing will remain unchanged from the pre-facelift Astra, though Vauxhall has introduced new options including a rear view camera, winter pack (heated steering wheel and seats) and LED daytime running lights, as well as a driver assistance pack consisting of forward collision alert, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and following distance indicator.

Vauxhall has also announced that the 195hp Bi-Turbo diesel engine will be fitted to the Astra GTC model. Offering 53.3mpg and 139g/km, it will still break 62mph in 7.8 seconds, and will cost £995 over the current most powerful diesel - the 165hp 2.0 - at £23,925.

As well as the extra power, the GTC will get bespoke 18-inch alloys, climate control, a lower ride height and bodykit and interior enhancements.
