Fleet on the up despite tough times

Date: 02 March 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Conference report: BVRLA chairman John Lewis told delegates that the organisation expects the fleet share of registrations to grow again in 2012 despite the grim economic outlook.

He said: "Members are pretty confident of incremental growth in 2012 - through new SME clients, cash takers moving back into contract hire and growth in salary sacrifice. Rental is one of the first sectors to experience an upswing due to economic growth.

"The back end of 2011 was very good - largely due to the growth of home shopping, and it is not surprising that things have eased off a bit this month."

Lewis went on to suggest that fleet managers were now considering 140g/km the new 160g/km when choosing their vehicles and the next month's Budget is likely to have even more impact in this area.
