Hyundai reveals new Santa Fe

Date: 23 April 2012

Hyundai has revealed its third-generation Santa Fe, due to go on sale before the end of 2012.

The seven-seater rival to Nissan's Qashqai+2 will offer a new Euro6-compliant 2.0-litre 150hp diesel engine emitting 115g/km CO2 along with an existing 2.2-litre 200hp diesel with CO2 emissions at 145g/km. Buyers will be able to choose from a six-speed manual or auto transmission.

Longer, lower and wider than its predecessor, the Santa Fe is expected to appeal to new consumers from a wider demographic range - including some owners of premium-brand SUVs, said Hyundai.

The carmaker said the latest version of the SUV has "more style, comfort and quality" than the outgoing model.

It will use an on-demand four-wheel drive systems that sends all of its power to the front tyres unless it detects a loss of grip, at which point power is split between the front and rear axles.
