Jaguar XF estate revealed ahead of autumn launch

Date: 29 February 2012

Jaguar has revealed its XF Sportbrake, the estate version of the firm's executive saloon.

Launching in the third quarter of this year, the new Sportbrake will boast a boot space within 15 litres of its Audi and BMW rivals at 550 litres, and Jaguar said the estate profile also means an extra 48mm of headroom for rear passengers.

Power will come from 3.0-litre and 2.2-litre diesels, though Jaguar is yet to specify exactly which units, and the firm has also made engineering changes including self-leveling air suspension.

The tailgate features a soft-close function to avoid the need for slamming, while LEDs shine a pool of light on the ground behind the car when the boot is opened. Set into the boot floor is a panel to split the load area into three sections, and valuables can also be stored out of sight under the floor. A powered tailgate will be an optional extra.

Prices and more engine and spec details will be announced nearer to the launch.Jaguar has revealed its XF Sportbrake, the estate version of the firm's executive saloon.
