Kia accommodates growing fleet sales

Kia's fleet sales are up a third year-to-date, with UK boss Michael Cole attributing success to brand opinion improving and a strong product portfolio.

Talking at the marque's lower-medium Ceed launch, Cole said releasing cars in four segments in the past year gave Kia an "incredibly strong proposition in the market".

He added the first Ceed quickly became a strong fleet car and that the new version will only help strengthen the brand's rapid growth further: "The last Ceed really started the evolution of Kia from Budget brand to the value-for-money brand it is today."

He added that while value-for-money is still important, quality is too; the new Ford Focus rival will start at around £14,500, £1000 more than its predecessor due to a more premium feel.

Cole continued: "If you've got the car and styling right and you have value-for-money and decent running costs, then we can conquest just about anyone as we have done with the Sportage. We've had buyers replace BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and Porsche models for the Sportage."

The Korean manufacturer is currently discussing a fleet servicing package for business customers as demands grows in this area. In the next year it will also consider whether Kia's fleet team, currently with six members, will need to grow again. "We want to make sure we can support fleet users," said Cole.
