Date: 22 February 2012   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Mitsubishi has revealed its third-generation Outlander 4x4. It will have a "low-impact target emission" CO2 figure of 130g/km when the it arrives in UK showrooms in late summer.

From next year Mitsubishi is planning a plug-in hybrid version, harnessing Mitsubishi's electric vehicle technology and providing a claimed range of nearly 500-miles and a CO2 target of below 50g/km.

Although Mitsubishi has not provided European or UK specifications for the new Outlander it will feature two- or four-wheel drive transmissions plus 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines.

It will have a seven-seater format with "full third-row seating", while its equipment list, according to individual models, includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning and active cruise control.
