NHS renews Leasedrive salary sacrifice scheme

Date: 21 February 2012   |   Author:

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has renewed its salary sacrifice scheme with Leasedrive after the original three-year contract came to an end.

The Mycar scheme was originally set up as a benefit to permanent contract staff, but the trust has found some essential users such as community midwives choosing to join it, with the NHS contributing towards their vehicle.

"The cost and environmental savings are clear to see and we've had a lot of interest from other hospital trusts enquiring about the Mycar scheme and how it works," said Anne Burton, the organisation's staff support and benefits co-ordinator.

"In the current economic climate it is very useful to have another benefit to be able to reward staff."

Leasedrive said salary sacrifice has saved the trust around £700 per year in National Insurance and pension contributions for every employee that joins the scheme.

"As well as introducing an attractive benefit, Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was also concerned about reducing the environmental and health and safety risk from its grey fleet," said Pete Nolan, national sales manager from Leasedrive.

"Besides delivering new vehicles that are fully maintained, serviced and insured for business use, we also help the trust to monitor its emissions savings as employees give up older, more-polluting cars for newer more environmentally friendly vehicles."
