Paul Everitt to leave SMMT

Date: 04 December 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has announced the departure of its well-known chief executive Paul Everitt.

The SMMT said Everitt would "be moving to a new position outside of the automotive sector at the end of January 2013."

Work is already underway to recruit a new chief executive, while chairman of the SMMT Industry Forum, Mike Baunton, will take Everitt's place in the interim.

SMMT president, Nigel Stein said: "Paul has made a tremendous contribution to SMMT over the last five years. We are sorry to see him go.

"The appointments committee has already met and is determined to find the right person to guide the organisation through its next stages of development."
