Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 drops emissions

Date: 19 September 2012   |   Author: Rachel Burgess

Peugeot has made improvements to its diesel hybrid crossover, the 3008 Hybrid4, lowering emissions and increasing fuel consumption.

Previously offering 99g/km and 74.4mpg, the latest update tweaks those figures to 91g/km and 80.7mpg respectively.

The carmaker said new management software for the engine had helped optimise energy recovery and batteries, facilitating the new savings, with benefits most marked in urban driving environments. Very low rolling-resistance 16-inch tyres also contributed.

The Hybrid4 technology runs a HDi 163hp diesel, which powers the front wheels, and a 37hp electric motor controls the rear wheels.

Peugeot recently told BusinessCar that the 508 and 3008 Hybrid4 models have paved the way for the carmaker to be a more credible fleet player, and have helped early sales of its new 208 supermini, which went on sale in July.
