Range Rover: 169g/km hybrid on the way

Land Rover has revealed that the next generation Range Rover will include a diesel hybrid iteration.
The luxury 4x4, as revealed in BusinessCar issue 150, will be offered with a V8 supercharged petrol with 510hp and two diesel engines - a 3.0-litre 258hp or 4.4-litre 339hp - all paired with an eight-speed auto transmission. The diesel hybrid will arrive in 2013.
Land Rover has cut the car's total weight by up to 420kg, meaning that it was possible to add the 3.0-litre engine into the line, which brings a 22% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, achieving 37.7mpg and 196g/km.
But the introduction of the diesel hybrid next year will make the Range Rover more appealing to fleets which need SUV capability, with targeted emissions of 169g/km.
Pricing starts from £71,295 for the Range Rover Vogue 3.0L TDV6 rising to £98,395 for the Range Rover Autobiography 5.0L Supercharged.
