Skoda unveils production Rapid

Date: 26 June 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Skoda has revealed the first official pictures of its all-new Rapid compact saloon.

Due to sit between the Fabia and the Octavia, the car has changed little from the MissionL concept on which it is based, itself revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show.

The only obvious differences are minor changes to the nose, a body-coloured roof and lighter tail-lamp clusters.

The company has yet to release full details of drivetrains, but it says that five petrol and two diesel engines will be available from launch late this year, which will most likely be made up of existing TSI and TDI units from the Volkswagen Group.

Skoda is claiming class-leading interior space as well as a palatable P11D price and plenty of safety equipment.
