Specsavers launches free driver sight check app

Date: 27 July 2012   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Specsavers Corporate Eyecare has launched a free sight check app designed to help employees maintain their eye health and keep up with examinations.

The app works by running a series of programmes including a reading test, visual acuity and a fan test for astigmatisms. The results of each test are then collated to create a description of the user's vision, their risk and what action they should take, if any.

While it is not a substitute for a full eye test, the app can recommend that the user books one following the test. It is available at the Apple App store and the Android App store.

Jim Lythgow, director of strategic alliances at Specsavers Corporate Eyecare said: "It makes the employee aware of the importance of regular eye examinations, as well as helping them to appreciate that some people are more at risk of preventable eye conditions than others, because of their family history."
