Toyota launches first hybrid estate

Date: 05 October 2012   |   Author:

The new Toyota Auris will, for the first time, have an estate version, which will also be the UK's first hybrid estate car.

The new Auris Touring Sports is 285mm longer than the five-door hatchback, with all of it coming in the rear overhang to increase boot space.

The car has the same front-end design as the hatchback, but features standard roof rails and an integrated rear spoiler and the rear has a lower sill to aid loading into the luggage area.

There's no word yet on the engine and trim line-up for Toyota's new lower medium estate model, apart from the fact that the hybrid powertrain will form part of the line-up.

More details will be released in the run-up to the model's UK launch, which is likely to be behind the five-door hatchback's arrival late this year.
