Vauxhall reveals most powerful Astra to date: the VXR

Date: 29 February 2012   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Vauxhall is to debut its most powerful ever Astra at the Geneva motor show - the Astra VXR.

Due in showrooms in June at a price "in the region of £26,000" to compete with VW's Scirocco R and the Renault Sport Megane, the 280hp 2.0-litre three-door is capable of 155mph and will carry the hard-core performance VXR badge despite using the Astra GTC body shell.

The car's Flexride adaptive suspension system features VXR and Sport driving settings, and Brembo racing brakes are included.

Vauxhall expects the VXR to account for 10% of all GTC?sales.
