ACFO Conference 2013: sell drivers cleaner vehicles, says Leaseplan

Date: 29 May 2013   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Leaseplan's Matthew Walters encouraged ACFO delegates to sell cleaner vehicles to drivers

Fleet operators should be coaxing drivers into cleaner and more efficient vehicles on the premise that they can have a more upmarket and better-specced car if they toe the line, according to Matthew Walters, head of Leaseplan consultancy services.

He claimed that a whole-life costs approach made such a tactic an easier sell to drivers and made overall sense for setting fleet policies.

"Whole-life costs - this should be becoming the norm. You should be presenting your drivers with all of these details.

"Drivers can choose a more environmentally friendly vehicle and they can have one that's more expensive.

"It's about persuading them that they can have a better, higher-spec vehicle if they make those choices."
