Audi A3 Cabriolet unveiled

Date: 16 September 2013

The A3 Cabriolet arrives in the UK next spring, becoming Audi's fourth model in the A3 line-up after the hatchback, Sportback and saloon.

Around 180mm longer than its predecessor, the new model's fabric roof now folds completely out of sight in 18 seconds and at speeds of up to 31mph, and Audi claims the roof "barely affects luggage space", dropping it from 320 litres to 287, compared with the old car's 260 litres.

The 2.0 TDI 150 diesel engine will be the most logical business car choice at 110g/km and 67.3mpg, although there will also be a 140hp 114g/km 1.4 TFSI petrol version that will be cheaper on benefit-in-kind taxation, as well as a 133g/km 1.8 petrol with 180hp.

For the first time, the Cabriolet range will be topped by a 300hp S3 model.
