Audi revises luxury A8

Date: 06 September 2013

Audi has unveiled a facelifted version of its A8 luxury car, with the revised model getting an upgraded line-up of Euro6-compliant engines as well as revisions to its aluminium body and new LED headlights.

Visual changes are subtle with tweaks to the bonnet, grille, front and rear bumpers and tail lamps.

BusinessCar reported in May that an A8 update was due with UK managing director Martin Sander saying that the changes would be "mainly cosmetic, a larger boot and lower CO2 across the range".

On sale from January 2014, the majority of the seven petrol and diesel engines have been revised to improve performance and efficiency.

The supercharged 3.0 TFSI petrol engine is boosted from 290hp to 310hp, the V8 twin-turbo 4.0 TFSI moves from 420hp to 435hp, while the 4.2 TDI gains 35hp, taking it to 385hp.

Fleet favourite, the most efficient 3.0 TDI diesel, increases from 250hp to 258hp, while dropping emissions from 158g/km to 155g/km, and fractionally improving fuel economy from 471.mpg to 47.9mpg.

New technology available will include the brand's active lane assist, which makes slight steering adjustments when necessary, and a park assist system with 360-degree display.
