Autohorn downsizes from Toyota Auris to Yaris Hybrids

Date: 24 May 2013   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Yorkshire-based fleet service specialists Autohorn has kept faith with Toyota by replacing hybrid Auris models and downsizing to hybrid Yaris superminis as part of its 800-strong fleet of cars and vans.

With clients including National, Alamo and Europcar, Autohorn plans to use the 40 hybrid Yaris superminis to service its York City Council hire contract.

MD Lee Underwood said the Yaris was chosen due to its economy, looks and 85g/km CO2 figures plus lack of boot space compromise.

He also said the business case for retaining Toyotas extended to less complex service and maintenance programmes plus the hybrid system's operational durability.

Autohorn Fleet Services has been operating as a car and van rental company, involving short term leasing and contract hire for over 18 years.

Corporate customers account for 70% of its business, which in total involves 225,000 hire days annually.
