AUTUMN STATEMENT 2013: Government pushes driverless cars

The Government has announced a £10m prize for the first town or city to develop as a test site for consumer testing of driverless cars.

The chancellor's Autumn Statement said to "ensure that UK industry and the wider public benefit from the development of driverless cars", the Government will review the legislative and regulatory framework around the latest technology being developed by the likes of BMW, Volvo and Google, in order to allow them to be tested in the UK.
