AUTUMN STATEMENT 2013: Motorway fuel price comparisons confirmed

Date: 05 December 2013   |   Author:

The Chancellor has confirmed in today's Autumn Statement that the Government will look to force down the price of fuel on motorways, widely accepted to be significantly higher than that found away from the arterial network.

As announced last month. a trial scheme of comparison signs will be launched, giving drivers information about the cost of fuel at different filling stations along the route, in a move politicians hope will encourage greater competition and encourage motorists to choose the cheaper options.

The Autumn Statement also confirmed the previously announced measures of a new independent medical panel charged with bringing down fraudulent whiplash claims, and a freezing of the MoT test fee at £54.85 until 2015.
