Date: 11 April 2013   |   Author:

The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association has appointed its new chief executive, with Gerry Keaney heading the organisation from 1 May.

Keaney spent 21 years at Volvo, including the role of UK managing director from 1996-2002 before moving to various international roles, most recently as senior vice president of marketing, sales and customer service, leaving in 2011.

Outgoing chief executive John Lewis is stepping down after 13 years in charge of the BVRLA, taking on the role of director of external affairs for the organisation.

"The vehicle rental and leasing industry continues to lead the way in promoting safe, sustainable and affordable road transport and we are proud to have attracted a senior executive with such a wealth of experience," said BVRLA chairman Neil Cunningham.
