Environmental credentials fuel Volvo deals

Volvo has signed deals with Tristar and Olympus Automation off the back of its vehicles' environmental capabilities.

Chauffeur company Tristar has taken on three 48g/km V60 plug-in hybrid models as part of the Energy Saving Trust's Plugged-In Fleets Initiative in a trial over 20,000 miles and six to eight months, with the firm measuring running costs, mileage data and driver and customer feedback before coming to a conclusion.

Tristar is one of 20 fleets on the EST's programme, with others including Network Rail and the Environment Agency.

Food firm Olympus Automation has taken on 10 V40 models, chosen primarily due to emissions of 88g/km. The vehicles will be used by engineers across the UK travelling up to 30,000 miles per year.
