Greenhouse gas reporting to give fresh CO2 push

Date: 19 September 2013   |   Author: Craig Thomas

New rules due next month that force quoted firms to include greenhouse gas emissions in their reporting should give fresh impetus to fleet CO2 reductions, according to GE Capital.

The Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Directors' Report) Regulations 2013 declares that details on direct and indirect emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and several other gases be made publicly available, with a summary on transport emissions required.

"The new regulations will inevitably create even more of an emphasis on CO2," said GE Capital's Fleet Services commercial leader Gary Killeen. "Companies will want to be seen to be as environmentally responsible as possible or at least be performing competitively compared to their peers."
