Date: 09 October 2013   |   Author: Tristan Young

Kia's new Carens mini-MPV has scored a five-star rating in the latest round of EuroNCAP crash tests. It scored 94% for adult occupant protection, 76% for child occupant protection and 64% for pedestrian safety.

Standard safety equipment fitted to the new Kia Carens includes six airbags, seatbelt reminders for all occupants, ESC, hill-start assist and emergency-stop signalling, which flashes the brake lights to alert other motorists when the driver is making an emergency stop.

While not yet available in the UK, the Chinese brand Qoros also scored a five-star rating for the 3, its large family saloon.
