The start point for the best source of fleet information

Leasing firms left behind with telematics

Date: 25 February 2013   |   Author: Rachel Burgess

Four out of five of the top 20 contract hire firms have seen a boost in demand for more accurate telematics systems, according to research by In-Car Cleverness.

The telematics provider also reported widespread "uncertainty" about the technology and what fleets wanted from it. Leasing firms questioned also said that their biggest problem was managing different needs within a large portfolio of customers.

Commercial Director Tim Eaves, said: For some, it is a simple matter of telematics not being seen as a priority today; for others, it is a challenge to determine the most appropriate technology solution currently being offered.

"But what they all recognise is the ever-increasing focus from corporate customers and fleet managers wishing to embrace telemetry to better manage their fleets and thus reduce cost."

"Importantly, they all understand the risk of doing nothing in such a competitive and rapidly-evolving market."
