Mercedes revamps E-class

Date: 11 January 2013   |   Author: James Dallas

Mercedes has facelifted its E-class saloon and estate models and introduced new engines.

The cars feature a new front bumper, bonnet and headlamps and revised side and rear styling.

The E-class is now offered with Bluedirect four-cylinder petrol engines with direct-injection. The entry E200 has power output of 184hp, official economy of 48.7mpg in the saloon (47.0mpg in the estate) and CO2 of 135g/km (or 139g/km).

The E-class is also available with four diesel engines plus the E300 Bluetec Hybrid, which combines the four-cylinder diesel engine with an electric motor.

All engines are fitted with Eco stop/start and are mated to six-speed manual or 7G-tronic Plus automatic transmission.

Mercedes said the new E-class features a host of Intelligent Drive comfort and safety systems developed for the forthcoming S-class.
