The start point for the best source of fleet information

Parking fines on the rise

A third of local authorities account for 80% of all penalty charge notices issued to commercial vehicle fleets, according to new figures from the Freight Transport Association.

"The most recent statistics revealed that 890,000 parking tickets are being issued by councils across the UK each and every month, which is equivalent to 1200 an hour," said an FTA spokesman.

The research also found that the London boroughs of Westminster and Camden plus the City of London and TfL are more likely to hand out PCNs to FTA members than other issuers.

The FTA's PCN Survey 2012 found members paid £2.9 million in fines, up 50% on the previous year, and that rise in costs was directly related to the increase in the number of PCNs issued on the capital's roads.
