Renault performs U-turn over five-seat Scenic future

Date: 25 March 2013

Renault has U-turned on its original plans to drop the basic five-seat Scenic mini-MPV, having previously said it would only sell the seven-seat Grand Scenic and the new crossover-styled Scenic XMOD that arrives mid-year with the facelifted range.

"It had always been the plan to drop the Scenic, but we will keep a Scenic or Scenics to help the price point," a Renault spokesman told BusinessCar.

The front-wheel drive Scenic XMOD, which features off-road-style cladding and a raised ride height, is also the first Renault vehicle to be fitted with the firm's Grip Xtend system that offers mud, sand and snow settings to help traction.
