Revamp for Volvo app

Date: 27 February 2013

Volvo On Call, Volvo's mobile app, has been revamped with a new design, extra features and added vehicle connectivity.

An improved driving journal allows users to see the last 40 days of trips including the route the car took on a map, speed, and fuel and battery consumption at specific time intervals. Other features include sending a destination via the app to the car ahead of use, as well as being able to see if the vehicle is in use, and the outside temperature at the location of the car based on web-based weather information.

The relaunch also means the app is compatible with the carmaker's new V60 Hybrid and offers special features such as a charge reminder and remotely starting the car's heating prior to a journey.

The app was originally introduced in 2011 and lets users check whether their car is secure (and locks the door remotely if not), locate the vehicle on a map, and see details such as fuel level, average mpg, mileage and trip meter data. Research has shown that the most used features are the car locator and viewing the driving journal.
