Date: 07 January 2013   |   Author: James Dallas

Skoda has unveiled the third generation of its lower medium Octavia, which arrives in the UK in March.

The brand claimed the new model sets the benchmark in terms of occupant space as well as offering best-in-class boot volume of 590 litres.

Skoda said the Greenline 1.6 TDI derivative achieves CO2 of 89g/km and consumption of 69.2mpg, while the launch engine line-up consists of four petrol units with TSI technology and four common-rail TDI diesel powertrains.

Apart from the entry-level petrol and diesel engines, all models are available as Green tec versions offering stop/start tech and energy recuperation.

A quicker RS?model is in the pipeline, along with an all-wheel drive version.
