Summer facelift for BMW 5-series

Date: 20 March 2013   |   Author: Rachel Burgess

The BMW 5-series will be facelifted in July, although changes will be minimal due to the success of the model, according to a spokesman, who said there would only be slight tweaks to exterior styling along with inevitably improved fuel economy.

Meanwhile, the i3, the first of BMW's mainstream EV line-up, will go on sale in October.

Available as both pure electric and as a range-extender, the carmaker expects the latter to be most popular due to its longer range.

Set to cost around £30,000 before the £5000 grant, a spokesman said its fleet success would depend on its lease rates.

BMW is hoping for a "few thousand sales annually".
