Toyota cuts Auris hybrid emissions to 84g/km

Date: 14 May 2013   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Toyota has reduced the Auris hybrid's emissions from 87- to 84g/km

Toyota has reduced the emissions of the Auris hybrid from 87- to 84g/km, rendering it the cleanest non plug-in lower medium model currently on sale.

The move comes only one day after Peugeot unveiled the first official images of the new 308 and said the cleanest version will emit "less than 85g/km" when it goes on sale in January 2014, claiming that it would be the lowest-emitting car in the lower medium sector.

Toyota has made a series of minor changes to the aerodynamics to achieve the figure.

These modifications had previously been made to the estate version - the Auris Touring Sports - which emits 85g/km and will become the lowest-emitting estate car in the UK when it goes on sale in summer.

The 84g/km Auris will be available in the UK from June.
