Tracker: home address warning for satnav users

Date: 24 May 2013   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Drivers are being warned not to save their home address in vehicle satellite navigation systems, after technology firm Tracker claimed thieves have used the information to raid houses after stealing owners'cars from car parks.

"Criminals are targeting long-term car parks, knowing it could be hours before a driver misses their stolen car," claimed Tracker police relationship manager Stuart Chapman.

"Car owners need to be aware of this growing threat and take steps to reduce the risks. We urge people to use a postcode some distance from home, rather than their actual address."
