Venson: repair, not replace, damaged windscreens

Fleet management firm Venson is advising fleets to consider windscreen repairs rather than defaulting to replacements as a cost-cutting measure.
It said that screen repairs cost 15% less than replacements on average but only 32% of the fleets it works with plump for the lower-cost option, passing up on savings of "thousands of pounds".
Commercial director Carl Stephens said: "The windscreen is one of the most vulnerable areas on a vehicle to be damaged, so with the extended cold period we have experienced this year, together with the increasing danger of potholes, small chips and cracks have become worse almost instantly.
"Not surprisingly, windscreen damage has been at a record high.
"Whilst we recognise that the majority of fleet managers understand the benefits of repairing over replacement of a windscreen, we would urge that this message is conveyed. to drivers."
