Allstar appoints new boss

Date: 03 July 2014   |   Author:

The UK's largest fuel card supplier Allstar has confirmed the appointment of a new managing director, with Peter Bridgen stepping up from his previous role as head of Allstar sister fuel card brand Keyfuels.

Bridgen has been managing director of Keyfuels since November 2000 and now heads all Allstar parent FleetCor's UK activity, which also includes The Fuel Card Company, with predecessor Callum Gibson moving on to other projects within FleetCor's operation.

The US giant, which also owns Epyx in the UK as well as a huge array of fuelcard and workplace travel-related companies across the world, has signalled its intention to move into telematics with a minority investment in UK-based Masternaut, which claims to be Europe's largest supplier of telematics solutions.

One of FleetCor's early investors, Summit Partners, took the majority position in the acquisition of Masternaut from Francisco Partners, with FleetCor preserving the right to acquire a majority stake at a later date.

"This minority investment in the leading telematics company in Europe allows us to put another marker on this adjacent telematics space in an important FleetCor geographic region," said FleetCor Technologies boss Ron Clarke.

"We will continue to evaluate the attractiveness and relatedness of this high-growth category as another potential product expansion opportunity for FleetCor."

Leeds-based Masternaut was founded in 1996 and now has 10,000 customers across 32 countries.
