Alphabet exceeds EV target by 24%

Top-three BC50 company Alphabet announced it has taken 738 electric vehicle orders, exceeding its 2014 by 24%.

The leasing company launched an EV consultancy arm - AlphaElectric - in November and said it has seen an interest in companies looking to add electric vehicles to their fleets.

BMW-owned Alphabet said over 240 of its customers have at least one electric vehicle on their fleet.

"The fact that we've exceeded our target is not only confirmation that our vision is correct and that we were right to place our full backing behind electric vehicles, but also of the value that our AlphaElectric consultancy service brings to customers," said Jon Burdekin, head of consultancy sales at Alphabet

"There is a clear appetite among organisations for electric cars and vans, and this is only going to increase as vehicles continue to drop in price and misconceptions are dispelled. As a result, in 2015 we expect to see the orders of electric vehicles continue to increase significantly," said Burdekin.

Alphabet recently announced a partnership with online parking provider JustPark.

Through the deal, Alphabet's clients benefit from discounts on spaces booked through the website.

The deal also provides customers with the chance to rent out unused parking spaces or electric vehicle charging points to generate extra income.

JustPark claimed it has over 18,000 locations nationwide from NCP cark parks to private homes. The firm said customers can book through the website by the hour, day, week or month at a price that is typically 50-70% less than on-street parking.
