Arval launches new services to mark 25 year anniversary

Date: 18 July 2014   |   Author: Jack Carfrae

Top five leasing firm Arval has celebrated its 25th anniversary with the launch of a suite of new services.

During a press conference in Paris, the company revealed two new products for the UK market. The first is Mid-Term Rental, due to launch in late 2014, which is designed for companies wishing to procure vehicles for a shorter period of time than a traditional lease contract, but for longer than typical daily rental arrangements will allow, with a minimum of one month's rental and a maximum of 24 months.

The vehicles available through the scheme will include used cars as well as newer, traditional rental models in order to make more vehicles available at short notice and avoid long lead times. Customers will be able to specify the category of vehicle they want but not the exact model, trim level or colour.

The second product is a telematics service, which is due to launch in the UK by the end of 2014.

Arval has yet to reveal exactly what kind of telematics package it will offer, but it has trialled the technology in Italy, as chief commercial officer and former UK managing director Bart Beckers explained: "Italy was the pilot country for telematics. Production has been in place there for 18-20 months."

He added that the final product would be available at a range of prices depending on what fleets wanted:

"We're looking at ?9-?17 [£7-£12]per month, per vehicle and it depends on the services that the client signs up for," he said.

Beckers said the cost would translate to similar figures for the UK market.

A third product, Driver Solutions, was also revealed. The service, which involves the leasing company dealing directly with the driver to relinquish some of the fleet operator's responsibilities, is already active in the UK but was officially rolled out to the company's major European markets.

The firm addressed its keenness to offer packaged deals to customers, which is borne out by the aforementioned services, and added that it has selected schemes that have either already been piloted or worked well in other countries before consistently rolling them out across other markets.

Finally, it revealed a new corporate signature that will adorn its branding from hereon out, which is: 'Arval. We care about cars. We care about you.'
