ATS: Fleets urged to think ahead on tyres

Date: 06 June 2014   |   Author: Tristan Young

Fleets are being warned to consider their winter tyre needs this summer or risk stock shortages when snow falls later in the year.

Tyre supplier ATS Euromaster claims fleets need to order the tyres now to avoid missing out this winter.

Peter Fairlie, ATS Euromaster's group sales director, said: "Despite a relatively mild winter, sales of cold-weather tyres increased by 25% in 2013 compared with the previous year, which we believe is down to better preparation by fleets for the unpredictability of the British weather.

"When the roads are covered in snow and ice, it's almost too late to fit cold-weather tyres as stocks sell out fast."
