Audi launches new TT coupe

Date: 10 March 2014

Audi has launched the third-generation TT coupe with claims of innovations in its cabin design and construction.

The car uses a mix of steel and aluminum in its space frame structure, and is up to 50kg lighter than before.

Provisional performance figures for the TDi diesel are 0-62mph in 7.2 seconds, 146mph top speed, 67.2mpg combined, and CO2 output of 110g/km.

All-wheel drive quattro versions will have a front-drive override to aid economy.

Externally, the all new car retains the TT's familiar profile, but the front grille and lamp clusters are now less rounded, and indicate the corporate look Audi will employ in the immediate future.

It claims to have taken a minimalist approach to the interior, with an entirely digital instrument cluster and cabin architecture that is likely to become familiar in other Audi models.

UK prices haven't been announced, but right-hand drive sales will begin late this year.
